Homicide-Suicide: A Case Report
Abstract
This case report stresses the role of depression in the manifestation of a homicide-attempted suicide. We report the case of a man who allegedly murdered his partner and then attempted suicide. Previously, he had several failures and rejections in relationships in addition to work-related stress. He was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and treated with antidepressant. The scarcity of homicide-attempted suicide as exemplified in this case could give an insight to the Psychiatrist for better understading and possible prevention.

Abstrak
Laporan ini menekankan tentang peranan kemurungan yang dimanifestasikan dalam bentuk homisid yang disusuli dengan percubaan bunuh diri (homicide-attempted suicide). Kami melaporkan kes seorang pesakit yang dikatakan membunuh kekasihnya dan kemudian cuba untuk membunuh dirinya. Beliau pernah beberapa kali mengalami kegagalan dalam hubungan ditambah pula tekanan tempat kerja. Beliau didiagnos mengalami kemurungan dan diberi ubat anti-kemurungan. Kelangkaan kes homosid yang disusuli dengan percubaan bunuh diri boleh membantu pakar psikiatri untuk memahami fenomena ini sekaligus mencegahnya.
